If you need to use RedEye on a device that does not run iOS 6 or later, please look for the new "RedEye Legacy" app, which supports devices as far back as iOS 3.

PLEASE NOTE: While you can use the built in television program guide on its own, in order to control your home theater, you will need RedEye hardware (a separate purchase). RedEye hardware (whether the original Wi-Fi RedEye, the new RedEye Pro, or the plug-in RedEye mini) sends out the infrared signals necessary to control your home theater and other equipment.

RedEye is your personal remote control.

With the RedEye system you can use your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and even PC to control your TV, stereo, cable box, DVD player, and many other devices that receive standard (infrared) signals. In other words, no more hunting through your sofa cushions for all those different remotes – all the control you need is right in your pocket.

RedEye is...

PERSONAL. Each person in your house can use her own iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or PC as a controller, and more than one controller can interact with your gear simultaneously.

SIMPLE. One touch launches any activity – watch TV, listen to music, play a video. And custom screen layouts for each activity mean you never have to hunt for the right button.

SMART. Multi-touch gestures for common functions, free software upgrades delivered through iTunes, the ability to control different rooms from anywhere in the house – all cheaper than other universal remotes.

Pros and cons of RedEye app for iPhone and iPad

RedEye app good for

Its fast and strong. This update was my dreams come true. You guys are the best.
The Product plus the app is amazing. I try it today and dont ever need another remote control as my iphone. Remember: You also needzhe hardware. The App wont work alone without the hardware!
Dont buy an harmony/universal remote!! Buy this! This is by far the best solution ive found so far! Sure the setup is long, but im guessing it will get better with updates.
I have made one layout that controls all my tvs, A/V reciever, cable box, PS3 and my bedroom lighting. it takes some time to setup and layout but fun to do, well worth it!! RedEye MINI AHHH YEAHHH!!
I have to strip the bumper in order to use the hardware. Software is buggy, difficult to use. After taking time to set it up, it works well.
I have given up on using the device database. It is not transparent/reliable. Now I set up every remote manually. Time-consuming, but you only have to do it once for every gadget you add. The activities are easy to put together when apply some logic. All our visitors are wowed AND they can use my complex setup. All that with the nice speed and look of the iPod Touch 4G and without the price and sluggishness of dedicated "high-end" systems.

Some bad moments

Buy a 188$ hardware to use this app. No thanks, i keep my logitech harmony remote (45$) which do all this stuff!
Nach langem ausprobieren, auf verschiedenen IOS Geräten habe ich im Forum der RedEye Produkte folgende Aussage gefunden: We unfortunately learned that iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads in Europe outside of the UK have volume limit restrictions enacted in the software that will limit the power to the headphone jack. With this restriction the minis cannot function properly, so we removed Germany from our web store shipping list for the mini and also put notice in the Buy section and FAQ section of our website about the issue. Any customers who ordered directly from us before we realized the issue have been refunded. We would like to find a solution for our European customers, but unfortunately until the volume limit restriction is lifted from iOS devices in Europe outside of the UK, we are not sure that this will be possible. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. D.h. spart Euch den Kauf des RedEyeMini
I like the concept of RedEye but i have not tried it yet because I dont know How much the RedEye device costs in Canada
Cant get the device to work on my wifi network. The software hangs trying to get a list of manufacturers when I add a device. Too bad, this had serious potential!
Can you guys take a look at the harmony remote for usability and configuration its a whole lot better
We ordered a couple of these. The setup is cumbersome and buggy. The application crashes when trying to connect initially - if you are lucky it will connect to your WIFI network. If you are luckier, the software will then se the device. Personally, I can not believe that a company would release such a piece of junk. We so wanted this to work, and it sounds like a great idea in theory. Totally disappointed. Looking for a similar product that works now. Again - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OF THIS!
